Costa Rica Don Joaquin
Cup Profile: Molasses - Kiwi - Coffee Blossom
Variety: Geisha
Process: Washed
We proudly present Finca Don Joaquín, a Costa Rican coffee grown in the elevated mountains of Canet de Tarrazú, at an altitude ranging between approx. 1,900 to 2,000 meters above sea level. This exceptional lot is produced by Víctor Madrigal, carrying forward a meaningful family legacy rooted in devotion to the land.
The farm benefits from cool and stable temperatures (17–23°C) that slow down the maturation of the cherries, allowing sugars to concentrate and enhancing complexity in the cup. Combined with the region’s balanced climate, marked by a clear rainy season and a defined dry season, the cherries ripen uniformly and dry naturally with remarkable consistency.
This Geisha lot is washed processed: the cherries are handpicked, depulped, wet-fermented, thoroughly washed, and then sun-dried. This method results in a clean, elegant cup showcasing coffee blossom, molasses, and kiwi.
Finca Don Joaquín earned 5th place in the Cup of Excellence Costa Rica 2025 – Washed Category, scoring 88.78, standing as a clear example of how passion, heritage, and nature come together to create an extraordinary coffee.
